Program/Activity Description
Adopt-A-Block (Sat, 10:00am-1:00pm):
Adopt-A-Block involves a high level of interaction with members of the local community. Guided by two leaders from City of Refuge, Volunteers will visit various residences in the City of Refuge neighborhood. Volunteers will go door-to-door, share our mission, inform residents of our services, and ask for feedback that can help us continue to build programs that meet the needs of our community.
Safe Haven (Tues/Thurs, 10:30am-1:00pm):
Safe Haven involves a high amount of interaction with members of the local community. Volunteers at Safe Haven will help set-up, greet, serve , clean-up and spend time building relationships with homeless and indigent friends from the community. For many in our neighborhood, Safe Haven is the only place where they feel welcome and wanted and loved.
Dinner on the Street (Wed, 4:30pm-6:00pm):
Dinners on the Street involve a high level of interaction with members of the community surrounding City of Refuge. Volunteers will help set up, greet and serve food prepared by the 180° Kitchen staff to the homeless men and women in our neighborhood. Following the meal, volunteers will also help with a small amount of cleaning.
Eden Village Dinner (Mon-Fri, 4:30pm-7:00pm):
Dinners at Eden Village involve a moderate level of interaction with Residents of Eden Village. Volunteers will simply greet and serve a hot meal to the homeless women and children who call City of Refuge home.
180° Kitchen (Mon-Sat, 9am-2pm):
Volunteers will help our culinary staff with the daily tasks that help them serve approximately 19,000 meals each month. Tasks may include: cleaning dishes, organizing pantry/food storage, minor meal prep, etc.
Breakfast on the Street (Sun, 8:30am-10:30am):
Breakfast on the Street involves a moderate level of interaction with members of the community surrounding City of Refuge. Volunteers will help set up, greet and serve food prepared by the 180° Kitchen staff to the homeless men and women in our neighborhood. Following the meal, volunteers will also help with a small amount of cleaning.
Helping Hands (Day and Time as scheduled):
If you want to get your hands dirty and help in an area of City of Refuge that is never without need, Helping Hands is the place for you. Activities for volunteers can range from light landscaping projects, organizing, building projects, or cleaning–all based on the ability and availability of the volunteer.
