Safe Haven
The Safe Haven program is centered around a hot meal made available to the homeless and needy residents of the local community. As part of the program, participants are provided access to showers, clothing and information concerning resources available through the Community Resource Center and the many service partners of the City of Refuge. Volunteers and staff serve the meal and spend time building relationships with those they serve. Each meal begins with announcements, devotion and prayer. For many this is the only place where they feel welcome and wanted; and this is the only church they can call home.
Our desire is to restore the dignity and sense of worth of those we serve through compassionate words and actions. Many participants make the decision to enter recovery or supportive housing programs after coming to Safe Haven. As participants make this transition, our desire is for them to not only overcome addiction but to receive the life and job skills they need to achieve self-sufficiency.
