Culinary Arts School:
Atlanta is experiencing a culinary renaissance and employers are demanding qualified, skilled and creative chefs. Despite this demand there is currently a huge skills shortage within the industry for qualified chefs. In advancing our mission of provided life-savings guidance, we offer a program at the City of Refuge. Our Culinary Certification is a prestigious training program designed to launch our students’ career as a professional chef/manager of the highest calibre, ready to meet the demands of today’s market. The 180 Degree Kitchen culinary certificate program takes our students from enthusiastic novices to a practical working level in 12 weeks. This rigorous course is mostly hands-on and is designed to teach the essentials and art of cookery, combined with kitchen and time management, focusing on overall business policies and procedures. Our students understand how inventory management, food production, and unproductive hours deplete a companies resources and can stagnate personal and professional growth and goals.
By the end of the course our students have confidence in the kitchen, and are eager to share their new skills and start on their journey. Each student also learns to take control of their future with culinary career classes and an industry certification with the Urban Major League Chef’s Association, allowing them to continue their education and networking long after the program. We follow our students as interns and monitor progress through weekly evaluations for 12 weeks after their placement.
Over the course of the program we cover essentials like baking, supervisory skills, mother sauces, food cost controls, proper preparation and fabrication of meats and vegetables, and how to make dishes that create a stir. We also stress professionalism at all times as they are joining an elite organization of providing nourishment and guidance in the kitchen. Our students take foodservice management level classes and are all Servsafe certified. Our graduation date of class #7 is March 25, 2012 at 10:45am at the City of Refuge Sanctuary. We would like to partner with your organization to provide entry-level foodservice positions, which our graduates understand is their first stepping stone to show their excellence and advance their careers. Please feel free to contact us anytime with openings or interviews for our students. Thank you for all you do and we look forward to recognizing your efforts at our graduation. You are truly a blessing.
