The First Inning

The First Inning is an organization that mentors and teaches inner city boys the game of baseball. We believe there are many children who have hidden talents and have never been given the chance to experience the game of baseball. Our organization uses local coaches and their sons to teach children from City of Refuge the game of baseball as well as mentor them. The boys range from 8 to 12 years of age and have come from fatherless families with mothers who are working to rehabilitate their lives through programs and services offered at City of Refuge.

Our organization is a 501c3 non-profit which accepts donations for support. Our program provides each child with a new glove, ball, cap and jersey. We also provide drinks and snacks at the clinics. Boys attend Atlanta Braves and Georgia Tech Baseball Games from time-to-time.

Murphy Candler Park is our facility of choice for holding the clinics and is located in Dunwoody, Georgia. Most of the coaches and sons who participate come from this park; however, we do have volunteers from other parks as well.
